The fifth International Yoga Day was celebrated with much enthusiasm in Vaagdevi Engineering College (VECW), Bollikunta in Warangal district on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, principal of our top PG college, Dr P. Prasad Rao insisted that yoga be incorporated in everyday life to develop a healthy body, stable mind and maintain emotional balance. The yoga session started with students, faculty and staff of our top PG college joining in Prayers and different asanas under the instructions and supervision of yoga teachers. During Yogabhyas, the yoga instructor explained the usefulness of different “Asanas” as a precautionary measure, in curing many diseases and the usefulness of yoga in the overall wellbeing of a human being. Yoga is the perfect harmony of individual consciousness with that of universal consciousness, a holistic approach to health & well being. The students, faculty & staff of our Warangal PG college performed yogic exercises and ‘Pranayam’ to celebrate this day and found the motivation to achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well. 

“Yoga is widely recognised as a means not only to maintain physical fitness but also as a holistic discipline which leads to a healthy state of mind, robust body and complete well-being of an individual. Yoga teaches self-control,” the principal said while addressing our students. NSS & NEC students’ love for yoga is not restricted to one day. “An increasing number of students in our Telangana PG college have made yoga a way of their life and practice. Conducted yoga classes for the students and said International Yoga Day is celebrated to raise global awareness about the benefits of the ancient Indian practice. He said that the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day celebrated at our best engineering college in Warangal is climate action.

“Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice originating in India. The word ‘yoga’ is derived from Sanskrit, which means to unite, symbolising the union of body and consciousness.”
